Windows ME dial-up configuration instructions
- Double
click on My Computer.

- Double
click on Control Panel.
- Double
click on Dial-Up Networking.
- Double
click on Make New Connection.

- In
the field Type a name for the computer you are dialing,
type Birch.net, and click the
Configure button.

- Now
you will be asked for a phone number to dial
in to. Leave the area code blank, and input
the local
access number for your area.
- Click
Finish.

- Right
Click once on the Birch.net icon.
- Left
Click once on Properties.

- You
will see the dial in phone number and below that a box that
says Use area code and Dialing Properties,
remove the check from this box. Click on the Networking
tab.
- Make
sure only Enable software compression at
the top is checked, and TCP/IP at the bottom
is checked. Click on the TCP/IP Settings
button.

- Make
sure that the following are checked. Server assigned
IP address, Server assigned name server addresses, Use IP
header compression, and Use default gateway on remote Network.

- Click
on Create a Shortcut, you will get a window
that says you cannot create a shortcut here, do
you want to put this on your desktop? Click Yes.
Close the Dial-Up Networking window.

- Your
computer is ready to connect to the internet.
